Why You Should Eat Outside More This Summer

Posted on: 2 November 2018

The months from December to February are most Australians' favourites because of one thing: summer. From the cricket on television that unites the nation to the sizzling barbecues that make up the summer soundtrack, everyone loves summertime. It is no surprise, then, that during these warmer months most people try to maximise their time outside to make up for the colder months around it. Here is why you should consider adding a daily meal outside to your schedule this summer.

Outdoor Dining Tables

Millions of Australians have outdoor furniture that they don't use nearly as often as they would like. The outdoor dining table is a staple of every backyard, and aside from parties, it sees little use. Time to make the most of what can be an expensive addition to your house and really start using it! Outdoor dining tables are often much bigger than their indoor counterparts because there is less need to conserve space in the great outdoors. If your outdoor dining table is looking a little worse for wear, don't worry; now is the perfect time to get an upgrade right before the summer rush. All Day, Every Day

Eating outdoors is a new experience every single time as you see the day change over the course of your meal. From seeing the morning dew and fog raise off the lawn, to the lazy midday heat that embraces every part of your body, to the cool breezes that interrupt the beautiful orange skies at night. Eating outside at any time of the day is a new experience and really grounds you in the environment.

Get That Fresh Air

As Australia increasingly becomes more urbanised and as there are advances in technology that let us stay inside more, we are going outside less. Getting outside a few times a day can be very good for your mental health and can give you a place to unwind from being enclosed by four walls every day. It also gives you a meaningful separation of work and relaxation, and you will start to associate the outside with fun and pleasure.

Health Benefits

Apart from the obvious benefit of vitamin D from sunlight, there are many positive health benefits to going outside a few times a day. Going outside has also proven to help with your eyesight as well as an overall increase in creative thinking. While being inside is great and provides us with the ability to focus and get work done quickly away from the elements, humans are still drawn to the outdoors, and it makes sense to give your body time to be in its more natural state.

My Home and Garden Blog

Hello! My name is Tina and I would like to invite you all to explore this wonderful new blog. The subject I will be writing about is how to improve your home and garden. It is sometimes easy to overlook our homes and gardens, especially if you are busy with work or bringing up your kids. However, taking a little bit of time out to improve the environment in which you live can have a positive effect on your well-being. I know this because last year, I hired a team of contractors and asked them to renovate my home and garden. I am super pleased with the results. Read on to find out more.
